The focus of the IMB Bank Cook Community Classic is a major community event held each year in November at Cronulla Beach and the adjacent Cronulla Park. As at December 2016 the event has raised over $830,000 for the community.

The event consists of:

  • Community carnival in the surrounding park of Cronulla Beach areas including children’s entertainment, live music and charity stalls
  • A competitive carnival between the four Bate Bay Surf Clubs
  • An open water swim for public participation
  • A Gala Ball (alternate years)

Through these activities and a major prize raffle the Classic provides a fundraising platform for local community groups – including sports clubs, local charities, school P&Cs and other community organisations – without themselves having to attract sponsors, arrange prizes, organise events and generate publicity to support their efforts. By pooling resources and holding one annual event smaller organisations can raise significant funds and awareness for their cause through the combined efforts of the Classic organising committee.

The Classic is an event created in the best spirit of the Cook community, building on the great Australian traditions of sporting excellence and the desire to help one’s neighbours.

I am proud to be patron of the 2017 IMB Bank Cook Community Classic and thank everyone who has been instrumental in making this event possible.

This year it will be held on Sunday 19 November 2017.
